Matt and Katie were set up on a blind date by a mutual acquaintance. They text each other for a few days first, then set their first date for January 8, 2007.

Matt first tried to trick Katie by having her meet him at the movie theater, but Katie knew they weren’t going to do a cliche movie date as Matt told her to pick the time.

Katie was right, and they drove to Big Dog’s Billiards to play some pool. Matt let her win a few games, and then they went to Perkins for dinner.

During dinner, the mutual acquaintance kept pestering them both for updates, so they hatched a plan to make it sound like the date was going terrible. Then they showed up at the mutual acquaintance’s job holding hands and laughing.

Matt was a gentleman and did not kiss Katie on this first date, but they nonetheless started a beautiful relationship.
